U.S. Consumer Confidence Slides Down 15%

Money talks, and right now Americans aren't feeling confident about their financial future. Consumer confidence numbers crashed to 92.9 for March 2024, hitting lows not seen since early 2021. The numbers paint a stark picture. While unemployment sits at a seemingly healthy 4.2%, over half of consumers view the economy through a negative lens.

The U.S. is reportedly considering launching a "golden visa" program– a policy with far-reaching cultural and economic implications. It's not new—Portugal introduced a similar program in 2012, generating more than $7.2 billion in economic activity by 2024..

A recent survey conducted by ELVTR, revealed that 54% of respondents said their mental health struggles are directly related to student loan debt. Nearly two-thirds of those polled can barely afford or can’t afford their loan payments at all, with minorities like Black borrowers facing the most debt.  The financial strain, emotional burden, and mental distress of student loan debt begs the question, is it all worth it?
